The Imo State Government on Wednesday said a three-year-old boy tested positive for the COVID-19 pandemic.
The chairman of the committee on COVID-19 in the state, Prof Maurice Iwu, confirmed the development while briefing newsmen in Owerri, the state capital.
Iwu, a former national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, said apart from the three-year-old, his father and three of his siblings tested positive for the pandemic.
The Professor of Pharmacotherapy said that seven active cases of coronavirus were being isolated at the Federal Medical Center in Owerri.
He disclosed that the state government was giving special attention to the three-year-old.
“It is important to stress that coronavirus is real but not a death sentence.
“The team has started getting calls from people, informing us of those who are sick, which information is usually scrutinised.
“The task force is here to serve. We are trying to curtail the spread of coronavirus.
