An organisation, Rising New Voices Initiative, has announced the appointment of its Board of Directors.
Members of the board are Prof. Oluremi Sonaiya (Chairman); Hamzat Lawal; Lois Auta-Udonkanta; Joel Oseiga and Saadatu Falila Hamu. They join Adebanke Ilori-Oyeniyi (Executive Director) and Jude ‘Feranmi Adejuwon who is the convener of the initiative.
A statement by its Director of Communications, Victor Terhemba, said: “We remain committed to the vision of raising a new breed of political leaders and pursue an agenda of development and progress for our country. We will continue to lead the quest for driving youth political participation and demand fundamental reforms from the government.”
Sonaiya is a retired professor of French Language and Applied Linguistics from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State. After leaving the university, she ventured into politics and rose to the position of National Publicity Secretary of KOWA Party. She was the only female presidential candidate in the 2015 elections.
